James Gentile, Ph.D.

Dr. Gentile serves as President of Research Corporation. The corporation is one of the oldest foundations in the US which is dedicated to the support and advancement of science and education. Before joining the foundation in January 2005, Dr. Gentile was Dean of National Sciences at Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
Dr. Gentile is a Fellow of the American Association for Advancement of Science. He was the editor-in-chief of the journal Mutation Research. He is a former president of the Environmental Mutagen Society and the International Association of Environmental Mutagen Societies. He has received many national and international awards, including the Alexander Hollaender Award for Research and Education.
He received his Ph.D. degree from the Illinois State University. During his academic career, he has published many scientific papers in the field of environmental and genetic toxicology.
His advice to junior scientists in the pursuit of their careers is “Be tenacious! Be bold! And be good!”
